State Department Special Adviser on International Disability Rights Sara Minkara visited Erbil to advocate on behalf of persons with disabilities and to disrupt the narrative around persons with disabilities, who, rather than needing charity, add value to diverse societies. While here, she met with disability rights NGOs Sheyaw, Modern Education for Kurdistan, and Rozh Sport Club; held a discussion with Director General Yousif Chawshin from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs; and delivered keynote remarks at an IOM-organized conference on disability and education at Catholic University.
